The Engineering Association of Ceylon, established in 1906, was succeeded by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.An Act of Parliament established the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, as an incorporated organization of the government in 1968. The IESL, which represents engineering professionals in Sri Lanka and has a membership of more than 20,000, has the mission of “Bringing out and Unleashing the Country’s Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Talents” and is tasked with representing the profession at numerous national forums as well as contributing to the country’s development.
