Apple, which has traditionally avoided foldables, could soon enter the market. Instead of a foldable iPhone, the foldable iPad has been the subject of earlier stories, although they were mostly expert analysts’ educated estimates. It turns out that there is now further proof supporting that claim, with a source suggesting that a foldable iPad will begin manufacturing and maybe even go on sale in 2019. Apple appears to be aiming for a whole other market based on the most recent statistics, despite Samsung having a solid head start with foldables over the previous few years.

After Samsung’s dominance for so many years, many smartphone makers have recently begun to express interest in the foldable smartphone category. Every year, just one smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, has announced and launched its foldable portfolio in India. More manufacturers, like Motorola and Oppo, have recently entered this market, and after Tecno’s Phantom V Fold made its debut earlier this year, only OnePlus has introduced a full-sized premium horizontal foldable. In preparation for the release of its first foldable iPad, Apple is also preparing its suppliers, according to a DigiTimes story.

According to the report’s supply chain sources, small-scale manufacture of this foldable iPad might start by the end of 2024. Apple hasn’t yet submitted its foldable device design, making it clear that it intends to participate in the contest. The insider also asserts that before implementing comparable technology on iPhones, Apple would first test it out on larger devices like the iPad.

According to the publication’s sources, Apple wants to produce products at a lower cost by employing a more straightforward design. According to the insider, Apple chose the iPad over the iPhone because iPadOS is functionally equivalent to iOS on the iPhone.Meanwhile, an earlier report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hinted that Apple’s foldable iPad would use a carbon-fiber kickstand and that it would arrive in 2024. The new updates corroborate the older news. Kuo back in January also mentioned that Apple would shift to this foldable iPad as Apple’s tablet shipments decline even further (by 10–15 percent) this year.
