Sri Lanka has finally gained access to YouTube Premium, the platform’s subscription service, making it one of the hundred markets that have opened up recently. Similar to Netflix and Spotify, the service offers all the typical advantages of YouTube Premium for a local fee. What does a YouTube Premium membership entail, then? What you should know is as follows.
Advantages of YouTube Premium
- There are no advertisements, therefore, none of those arbitrary, bothersome commercials will appear while watching films.
- YouTube Music is pre-installed and free of ads. YouTube Music offers a comparable-sized catalog to Spotify, perhaps not being as well-known. However, for Premium customers, sound quality is limited to 256 kbps.
- Videos can be downloaded. Although you can’t move the files around like you can with a TikTok movie, it’s still a helpful tool to have if you want to watch offline or just use the nighttime data for picture-in-Picture mode and background play. You can listen to YouTube videos in the background without having the app open, in addition to watching such videos while using another app.
Users may purchase an individual membership for LKR 629 per month, and a family subscription, which costs LKR 1,199 per month, allows you to add up to five more family members. There is also a student plan available for LKR 365 per month, however in order to keep the service, a yearly verification is necessary.
Alternatively, a Premium subscription will cost LKR 529 per month if all you’re interested in is YouTube Music. The package includes background play, offline listening, and ad-free music. In any case, the service will allow you a one-month trial if you’re still undecided about YouTube Premium.
